Plugging for Specks

Cooling water temperatures and a massive run of mullet has triggered a fantastic sea trout

Sea trout weighing to ten-pounds are typically taken during the cooler months of Fall, Winter and Spring.  Casting minnow type plugs during the last few hours of the flood tide and the first few hours of the falling tide is key.  Best areas include deep sloughs located next to large oyster mounds, boat docks or fallen trees.  Best lures include the red and white Mirror-Lure 52-M, frog colored Top Dog and the ever popular Strom "Chug Bug" in the blue and chrome color pattern.  Take a few pictures and release your trophy speck for future fishermen!  For the best backwater guides in the Southeast, Call  Amelia Angler Outfitters-904-261-2870
